Georgia is one of the first countries in the world which converted to the Christianity in the 4th century.

  St Nino was a woman who preached Christianity in Georgia. According to the legend, she performed miraculous healings and converted the Georgian queen Nana, and eventually the pagan king Mirian III, who lost is darkness and blinded while hunting, found his way only after he prayed to “Nino’s God”. After the miraculous facts, king declared Christianity the official religion and Nino continued her missionary activities among Georgians until her death.

  Majority of the Georgian population is Christian orthodox.
