Uplistsikhe is an abandoned rock-town. It is one of the remarkable historical site in Georgia, which amazes by its dimensions, beauty of the landscape and refined forms. Back there in history it played an immense role in Georgian history. The place was founded in the late Bronze Age, around 1000 BC, and continued to be inhabited until 13th century AD. In antiquity, the city was one of the most important centers of Kartli and in the middle Ages it stood on an important trade route that linked Byzantium with India and China.
After Uplistsikhe you can visit military town Gory, which is the birthplace of former Soviet ruler Joseph Stalin.
Gori was an important military stronghold in the middle ages and maintains strategic importance due to its location on the principal highway connecting eastern and western Georgia.
Gori Fortress is a 13th century castle in Georgia, situated on a hill above the city of Gori in the Shida Kartli region of eastern Georgia.
Joseph Stalin’s Museum complex consists of memorial house, where Stalin was born, exposition building with tower and Stalin’s personal coach with interior.
